   Résumé
   En 1940, à la charnière des deux décennies les plus glorieuses du cinéma américain, un auteur dramatique proche du peuple (il écrit des pièces à caractère social) se retrouve en Californie, embauché par une compagnie qui lui a commandé le scénario d'un film sur… le catch. Le sujet ne l'inspire pas. Il sèche.
   Commentaire
   Barton Fink fut le grand triomphateur du festival de Cannes 1991. Tant de lauriers étonnent un peu, mais il faut admettre que le film est plaisant, ingénieux, intelligent et que son humour n'est pas gratuit. Les frères Coen massacrent avec une verve pétillante aussi bien le système hollywoodien que les intellectuels impuissants.
